Background

Built from a career spent inside every setting your loved one may face.

Marjorie Hunt is a Nurse Practitioner with more than a decade of experience in geriatric care, specializing in dementia across every care setting from home to assisted living facilities, memory care, long-term care, hospitals, and rehabilitation centers. She has been the provider in the room when the hardest decisions are made.

She has gone to court to protect a patient’s rights when they can no longer make decisions independently. She has called state agencies, coordinated with hospice nurses, stopped procedures that were causing harm, fixed harmful medication errors, and stayed in the picture long after other providers moved on. She has worked alongside geriatric psychiatrists and geriatricians and has deep experience managing the difficult and overwhelming behavioral symptoms of advanced dementia; the situations where other providers don’t know what to do, and she does.

Maine Dementia Partners was started because the medical model alone cannot give people living with dementia what they truly need: someone with the time, the knowledge, and the commitment to make sure every person is protected, comfortable, and treated with dignity.

philosophy

Why a Crow?

The crow was chosen as part of my symbol because it represents intelligence, awareness, and deep memory. Crows are known for recognizing faces, remembering people over time, and responding thoughtfully to their surroundings. Qualities that closely reflect my approach to memory care. They live in strong social groups, looking out for and protecting one another.

For me, the crow represents dignity, attentiveness, and respect for each individual I care for.
