What Maine Dementia Partners Offers

Clinical guidance, care coordination, and hands-on family support.

Veteran & military family discounts available.

It starts with a free consult. Where it goes is up to your family.

Every family's situation is different, and so is the support they need. Through flexible membership plans, you get ongoing access to clinical guidance, care coordination, and advocacy tailored to what your family is facing right now. Here are some of the ways we help.

Caregiver Support & Education

Education on dementia stages, behavioral and functional changes, communication strategies, and end-of-life planning delivered in plain language by someone who has worked in every care setting. Includes guidance on how caregivers can sustain themselves through a long and demanding journey and when to bring hospice in. Preparing for medical decisions as the disease progresses, not just code status, but instructions on how to handle common situations we can anticipate such as transfer to the hospital and how much treatment your loved one wants as the disease progresses, knowing this information gives caregivers peace of mind making the hard decisions later. Preparing relieves stress and burden to the caregiver and gives better quality of life to your loved one living with dementia.

Care Coaching & Consulting

One-on-one sessions helping families understand the stage of disease, create personalized care strategies, navigate difficult decisions, and maintain the person’s active dignity and quality of life. Whether you need help preparing for a neurology appointment or selecting the right level of care, Marjorie walks alongside you.

Uncomfortable Situations

Things come up that you couldn’t be prepared for. You’re getting calls about things your loved one is doing that seem impossible. When the brain is changing, things can happen that you don’t expect. Maine Dementia Partners walks with you through these difficult times.

In-Home Visits & Assessments

In any care setting or at home. In-home visits are available in York, Cumberland, Androscoggin, Kennebec counties, and others as time and availability allow due to driving distance. Marjorie is always available via Zoom for those not within a distance she can accommodate.

Behavioral Symptom Management

Specialized support for the difficult and overwhelming behavioral symptoms that occur in advanced dementia: inappropriate sexual behavior, agitation, wandering, combativeness, sleep disruption, and refusal of care. Marjorie has worked alongside geriatric psychiatrists and brings deep clinical experience to situations where other providers don’t know what to do, such as when and how to initiate medications and when to taper.

Care Coordination & Navigation

Not every family is on the same page; sometimes tough conversations are essential for your loved one having good outcomes. Getting families on the same page while honoring the dignity and quality of life through a wholistic perspective that includes accurate medical information to give families realistic guidance as they make their important decisions.

End-of-Life Planning & Guidance

Compassionate, clinically informed guidance on hospice eligibility, goals of care conversations, understanding what do not resuscitate and do not transport to hospital orders mean and what other options are available. Supporting a loved one through the final stages of dementia is a juggling act and Marjorie offers the ability to stop juggling and instead make these decisions with clarity and confidence that they are preserving their loved ones dignity and honoring their loved one’s wishes.
